Happy New Year

This past weekend the Grays family took a 2 day Junket to the coastal town of Mirbat. It was a nice getaway as Salalah can get a bit mundane. We checked into our hotel room which was smaller than we expected, but the king size bed and balcony view of the Arabian Sea more than made up for it. The pool is HUGE there and the German tourist made the experience eventful. (those people strip at the pool like it's cool). Nothing like a 60 year old man with b cup size breasts and the speedo to get the blood flowing.

On the morning of the second day we traveled to the sand dunes, which are about 5 km south of the resort. Surprising the sand was very cold. It is winter now in Oman. Caleb had a blast running around like a crazy man. Jenny and I get more exercise chasing him around then anything else. We also made a short trip to the Mirbat castle where a battle was fought in 1972 between British SAS and Yemenis rebels. The castle itself was closed, but maybe we will get to see inside next time (inshallah)

This spooky looking building sat just behind the castle and near a mosque. I assume it was once a hotel but who knows. There are many places like this in Mirbat. Guess the economy is not so good here.
